Abstract

This study dwells into the achievement of human growth and well-being through an elevated pedestrianization strategy. It intends to substantiate its purpose through stakeholders’ perception leading to the most optimal approach towards freedom of mobility, happy people, business growth, and reinvigorated population. Using explanatory sequential mixed methods, random sampling of 558 participants from 23 random barangays were collected to get the representation of the impact of this structure to the people. With the Theory of Change (De la Mata, 2018) as foundation to get this perceived impact interrelated with other planning and social architecture theories, the research centers in on innovation and technology to enhance human mobility and economic growth. A great number of participants believed businesses will flourish with the presence of such edifice. The stakeholders’ critical visualization and evaluation of its convenience-value, direct access to mass transportation hubs, park-like features, vulnerable sector-friendly and provision of bike lanes got above 90% approval. Majority of the respondents will still use it to go around different places even without the linkages to mass transportation hubs. The proposed structure gained existential and inclusive support from stakeholders during the conducted focus group discussions and interviews.
